About Sherlyn
I developed an interest in psychic ablities, witchcraft, if you will, and pagan or alternative religions to the Christian 'norm' I was raised with when I was rather young. I was lucky enough to have a mother who was open minded and with some pleading provided me with the books of herbalism, magic, spirituality, and such things that I desired to sate my curiosity. I was about eleven when I came into the possession of my first herbalism book, and right about thirteen when I was given my first tarot deck. I continue to try to broaden my philosophies on cultural views, religious beliefs, and the social need for tradition in my rather 'rootless' western society. In other words, I still read a lot of weird books and talk to people about them. :)
Over the years, I have done countless readings for myself, my family, and my friends live and over the phone, but I never really considered myself a 'real' seer back then. I had this youthful view that only a chosen few could ever really have this gift. Could you believe, I thought I was 'too normal' back then?
When I was about nineteen years old, I discovered and investigated psychic, witchcraft, and tarot rooms on the Internet (amongst other things). I ended up doing readings for a few professional psychics. I passed their screening tests as a seer (they did not even tell me they were testing me till afterwards--tricky, tricky!), and I was offered a job as a 900 number telephone psychic. Now, as flattering as this was I was loath to be part of such a large and demanding operation which I had seen burn my friends in the 'business' out.
I also had a close relationship with my cards, a symbiotic relationship, and I did not wish to repeat the mistakes of my beginning years and abuse them in this fashion. I use the term 'abuse' to define what I consider 'over reading'. I compare something like 'over reading' to a long soak in the bath tub since, at first, it is a wonderful experience, but then it gets cold and water actually ends up drawn from your body through osmosis. Things get 'uncomfortable' for me and something is drawn out and lost when I have to read many different times for long periods of time. So, I needed a place where I could read those who really sought advice and not be under the goad of someone pushing me who longed for only followers or money.
Luckily, striking out on my own offered me the chance to not have to struggle to fill anyone's quotas but my own. It also allowed me to lower my rates to about $1 US per minute in flat fee payments, and set more flexible hours for giving readings and offering tarot reading tutorial sessions (for those who successfuly interview with me).
I graduated in the Spring of 1999 from UCLA with a B.A. in English. I was recently at a local college where I tutored disabled adults in various subjects with my specialty being English while I continue my education. In my free time, between university classes or volunteering, giving readings, and attempting to remember where my social life is (I KNOW I left one around here somewhere!) I may be found in my channel #TarotReadings, which is linked on the main page.
